About Signal and Noise
Signal and Noise explores the creative possibilities that emerge when generative algorithms meet physical making. This publication documents the journey of translating computational processes—strange attractors, feedback loops, mathematical systems—into tangible artifacts through pen plotting, Risograph printing, and digital fabrication.
Why subscribe?
For makers and artists: Learn practical approaches to materializing digital work through accessible fabrication methods, with detailed process documentation you can apply to your own practice.
For technologists: Discover how mathematical systems and generative algorithms can produce compelling visual and sonic experiences, with code examples and technical deep-dives.
For the curious: Follow along as computational concepts become zines, prints, installations, and performances—seeing the creative process from initial algorithm to finished artifact.

Each post bridges the digital and physical worlds, examining:
Process breakdowns of generative art projects from TouchDesigner to physical output
Technical tutorials on algorithmic art, IoT systems, and fabrication workflows
Behind-the-scenes documentation of A/V performances and live generative systems
Reflections on community education, hackerspace culture, and creative technology
Explorations of tools like AxiDraw pen plotters, Risograph printers, and creative coding environments
From the Studio
I’m Woody (GRNCH), a generative artist working at the intersection of algorithmic systems, digital fabrication, and electronic music. My engineering background gives me a math heavy approach to making things, but the real fun happens when those algorithms become physical objects you can hold, or visuals synced to bass heavy sounds. Signal and Noise is where I document what I’m building, breaking, and learning along the way.
